Day By Day
Day 1 Arrive Lisbon
On arrival in Lisbon, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception.
Day 2 Lisbon
On a tour of Lisbon, ride on the city’s iconic tramcars, then visit the charming Old Town. Discover the World Heritage-listed Jerónimos Monastery, a symbol of Portugal’s power and wealth during the Age of Discovery. Built in 1502 by King Manuel I, the monastery commemorates Vasco da Gama’s voyage to India. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner.
Day 3 Lisbon, Sintra
Venture into the picturesque mountain range of Serra de Sintra. Visit the spectacular Pena National Palace, then take a guided tour of Sintra, the town below the palace. Enjoy lunch at your leisure before returning to Lisbon via the spectacular coastal route. During your final evening in Lisbon, you may wish to try one of the local restaurants.
Day 4 Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Embark Ship
Journey through Portugal’s rural countryside to Coimbra, a delightful medieval city that is home to Portugal’s most famous university. After a tour and free time for lunch, continue to Porto. Board your river ship and after settling in, enjoy a Welcome Dinner, followed by a stunning twilight cruise around beautiful Porto.
Day 5 Porto
Today you will be able to explore Porto your way with a choice of sightseeing.
Day 6 Porto, Guimarães, Entre-Os-Rios
Take a morning excursion to Guimarães, an authentic and well-preserved showcase of the evolution of medieval settlement. Back on board, enjoy some scenic cruising through the Douro Valley en route to Entre-Os-Rios. Here, visit Quinta da Avelada, a family business that has been producing wine in the Douro region since the 1870s. Explore the gardens on a tour, followed by a wine and cheese tasting.
Day 7 Régua
This morning, delight in the beauty of this sun-drenched region as you cruise to Régua. On arrival, visit the Douro Museum, which provides an incredible insight into culture of the Douro Valley wine region.
Day 8 Régua, Pinhão
After your chosen activity today, continue cruising through the dramatic gorges of the Douro Valley to Pinhão.
Day 9 Pinhão
Take a trip to Palacio de Mateus, located near the city of Vila Real. Built in 1745, the palace offers a wonderful insight into the lives of Portuguese aristocracy. Enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.
Day 10 Barca d’Alva
Travel to the tiny fortified village of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo today. On a tour here, see the castle ruins, and take in spectacular panoramic views of the Douro Valley and surrounding towns. Back on board, enjoy a delicious dinner this evening as you make the most of your last night on board.
Day 11 Barca d’Alva, Disembark Ship, Salamanca, Burgos, Bilbao
Disembark your ship and travel to Burgos via Salamanca. Continue to Bilbao, located on the Bay of Biscay in the beautiful region known as Basque Country.
Day 12 Bilbao
Join a local guide for a tour of Bilbao, followed by a walk through the Old Town, with a visit to the Guggenheim Museum.
Day 13 Bilbao, San Sebastián, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bordeaux, Embark Ship
Follow the coast and stop in San Sebastián, then continue to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, set in French Basque Country. After a walking tour, continue to Bordeaux and board your ship.
Day 14 Cadillac
Arrive in Cadillac and set out on your chosen activity.
Day 15 Pauillac
Disembark your ship and journey through the Médoc wine region. Here, a special experience awaits.
Day 16 Blaye, Bourg
Discover the town of Blaye, then choose your sightseeing activity.
Day 17 Libourne, Saint-Émilion
In Saint-Émilion, head to the underground Monolithic Church, then enjoy some free time to explore.
Day 18 Libourne, Bordeaux
From Libourne, set out on your chosen activity. Enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Dinner as you cruise to Bordeaux this evening.
Day 19 Bordeaux
